Happy Halloween!

Clara played in the "Kick-or-Treat" tournament this weekend, so she's been in costume for two days. Can you tell what her team was dressed as?Static cling! Very edgy. :)

Both kids insisted on carving their pumpkins with absolutely no help. It's a good thing that someone invented those safety carver things.
Family pic. Don't know what's up with my Bee Gees hair. I swear I don't normally look like Barry Gibb.
And this year's costumes. Drumroll, please......Clara came up with the tree concept all on her own, and all we had to buy was a pair of brown boots (which she needed anyway), some green face paint, and a few fake leaves. Trevi has been wearing bits and pieces of his knight costume for weeks. We managed to throw the whole thing together with stuff we found at home, except for the yellow felt. My favorite part is the milk jug helmet. :)

We trick-or-treated with some friends, and then hung out at their house for the grand candy sort. Good times.
Thankfully, most people were watching the Giants game between giving out candy, so we could stay updated on the score as we wandered the streets. They won, by the way. :) It was probably Chad's awesome Giants pumpkin that led to the win.

Back to the Exploratorium

My class last year gave us a family membership to the Exploratorium, which is really the most awesome gift I can imagine. It was pouring rain today, so we kept busy by experimenting with magnets, movement, sound, visual distortion, and electricity.

A Hungry Dragon

I came home to this alarming scene today. The red firefighter guys are under dragon attack (one is actually being eaten). You can see that some guys tried to parachute in, but their chutes apparently didn't open. The plane made a crash landing, too. Crazy world.

Gosh, I just love some of the games they come up with.

Whiteboard

The drawing continues off the paper and onto the whiteboard. The only sad part is that these fabulous works of art are wiped clean several times a day.

The Pumpkin Patch

There's a crazy pumpkin patch place not far from us that is set up a bit like a wild west town. This is no Disneyland, though. Everything is very rag tag. It's funny and sort of sad at the same time. Just check out these mannequins riding in a buggy: The woman is an amputee, and the man has a cartoony face. Plus, we don't know what he's hiding under the blanket.....

There are some old wooden buildings, with little scenes set up inside.Creepy, right?
Trev's favorite is the jail.
They have a nice corn maze, which was loaded with "pokey" weeds that caused Trevor to freak out slightly – he lives in fear of stepping on a weed with prickles....
Picked out some pumpkins and headed home.I guess it's time for the Halloween decorations to go up...

Garbage

Look how adorable our teensy weensy new garbage can is! The city has a new waste management program that lets you choose the size of your garbage can. The smaller, the cheaper. Awesome.

Family Photo

We sent off a thank you note to the kind folks who rescued Bernie, and decided to enclose a little shot of the fam with our furry rescuee. I think we look pretty cute.
