Just for Bertend

This is one of those stories that will most certainly lose something in translation, but oh well. One of our favorite kid pronunciations is the way Trevor says, "bertend" for "pretend". He actually uses the phrase, "Just for bertend".
Now, if you've ever heard the Dog Train CD, then you know the song, "I Need a Nap". Being the dorks that we are, we plugged the words "just for bertend", into "I Need a Nap", and created a ridiculous little inside-joke-song to giggle about at the dinner table or in the car or wherever. But that's beside the point.

Today, Trevi wanted to go camping "just for bertend". So we did.
We made s'mores with cotton ball marshmallows (which don't attract as many ants as the real deal), and bits of bark and leaves for the chocolate and graham crackers.

After the bertend campfire, Trevi went fishing in "Lake Bertend".
Next time we pretend to camp, though, we should not pitch our tent on top of a real anthill.
